Wu-Tang Clan's 1991 Demo

I really love finding original demos of well established bands. It is like being transported back to when they first started, and were vunerable recording artists, not huge untouchables that will always sell records. It is also interesting to hear where some of your favourite songs have come from and how they evolved before being re-recorded at a later date.

Ever since delving further and further into the 36 chambers of Wu-Tang's legacy I have been pining over their original 1991 demo, and now I have finally found it. It is super rough quality at a bad bitrate, but I finally fucking found it!

The demo has all the hall marks of Wu-Tang's early sound, with a heavy emphasis on sampling old soul records with big RZA beats underpinning the whole thing. Interestingly, the only three tracks on here that were re-recorded are "Bring Da Ruckus", "After the Laughter" which got re-recorded as "Tearz" and then "Cuttin Headz" which was recorded on ODB's first solo album "Return to the 36 Chambers". The rest of the tracks have not been re-recorded or reworked at all. One of the stand out tracks on here is "It's All About Me" which has a great groove and sampling, I would've really liked this song to be recorded for 36 Chambers as it's a great track.

It is an interesting listen, but be warned the quality is pretty poor.
