Rage Against The X Factor

In the recent turn of current events potentially resulting in what might be the coolest Christmas number 1 ever, I decided to FINALLY post Rage Against The Machine's 1991 demo that I've had sitting in my mediafire for bloody ages.

It is an interesting demo, in that it is pretty much the same as their first album, but with the addition of a few extra songs. I personally find the track "Autologic" most interesting for its even heavier hiphop influence. I would also liked to have heard a rerecording of "Narrows" just because it has some sick riffs. For the most part the demo versions of the rerecorded tracks are very similar, but none the less are interesting to listen to.

I can imagine that when this demo hit the streets of LA it was very popular and quite mind-blowing just because RATM still stand as the only GREAT blending of rock and rap without ever loosing any of the rock or the funk. With this combined with RATM's fierce political message and seemingly intense live show (sadly I have never seen them live) I can only imagine how rebelliously spirit raising this was.

RATM's political message is still as strong as ever, if not even more relevant now than it was, which really goes to show how fantastic and ahead of their time this band was. So go and buy "Killing In The Name Of" if you haven't already or just go and listen to all their albums again.
